El Lugar del Nopal is since 1995, an independent cultural forum located in Tijuana, B.C. A place that proposes a bohemian, intimate and sensitive atmosphere. A space to appreciate art in its different disciplines. It is "the house of artists".

A little history...

It would seem that not so long ago, when in "el Callejón del Tapado" (private 5 de Mayo) in the center of the city of Tijuana, the doors of a large house with white walls and rustic wooden roof were opened that hid a garden in its rear. Appropriate space to unleash artistic imagination. Tijuana, a city with an important musical tradition, had a hole left by El Río Rita and El Lugar del Juglar. Upon opening its doors, El Lugar del Nopal was welcomed by the public and the artists who could not find another space with similar characteristics. In 1995 the Place of the Nopal was born, which since then has given shelter to the expression of various cultural actors such as: painters, poets, actors, writers, dancers, musicians and more artists, who have given life to this place clearly marking the vocation from space. Since then, this vocation has not abandoned this space, on the contrary, over time it has been reinforced and grown. The years and constant work allowed El Lugar del Nopal to show its proposal to society. Artists from the city, regional, interior of the country and even abroad, found in this site the ideal space to share their work. On more than one occasion and through their own voices, we have learned that various foreign artists arrived at the recommendation of someone who advised them; "Don't stop visiting El Lugar del Nopal when you get to Tijuana." We are happy to continue in force, and to have overcome crisis after crisis the onslaught of time. However, we have not done it alone. El Lugar del Nopal and the artists we would be nothing without you; our audience. You who have accompanied us throughout all these years. All those that have been frequent, sporadic or distant. We owe all of you our respect, our existence and we reiterate our commitment to culture and art, always.
