Thematic museum where the different facets of the phenomenon of light and its relationship with science, art and history are explored.
The Museum of Light of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) was inaugurated on November 18, 1996. Currently it is located in its second headquarters: the Patio Chico of the Antiguo Colegio de San Ildefonso, one of the most important colonial buildings in the Historic Center of Mexico City, whose foundation dates back to 1588. This site, witness to notable events that have marked the course of Mexico, adds its historical and artistic wealth to the scientific contents of the museum, generating a novel and original discourse in the field of science museums.
